Venetian Deep Stack Extravaganza
I rode out with my friend Rob(rado420) with the intentions of only stopping in Vegas for a day because Rob was planning on moving out to L.A. We got there after 10pm, but I still found myself playing $2/$5 NL and cashing for almost $400 in less than 2 hours. So, I decided to free-roll myself into the next days prelim event. The buy-in was $330 and there were about 375 players. I busted in 331st place with my worst bad beat ever… I raised with 4d5d under the gun and got called by the button and the BB. The flop came up 678 diamonds. I flopped a straight flush!! BB checked and I bet less than 1/2 the pot. The button re-raised and BB folded. I assumed that the button had the nut flush or at least the nut flush draw, so I went all in. She snapped called and turned up 9dTd. Unbelievable!! I was drawing dead and left with my free hat and t-shirt.
We decided to stay the night and went out to dinner at a really cool Japanese restaurant. My evening session was good and I even got to meet Dennis Phillips and Darus Suharto, both of which were still in town from after the WSOP final table that was played out that previous weekend.
We left Vegas the next morning and headed to the Commerce in L.A. The best part was that I left Vegas with more than I arrived with – always a good thing!
