LAPC Day 1

Not too much to report for yesterday. I played in the Heads Up tourney and drew a second round starting seat. I ended up playing a guy from Michigan by the name of Dash Dudley. Talk about running good. The guy finished 3rd on Jan 30 in a rebuy event without ever rebuying – and his luck was still rolling. First hand we play, I turn a flush and he ends up rivering a better one. Then, of course, I walk right into an overpair after he limps with KK. I seriously did not even get dealt an Ace the whole match. Go figure.

I played some 5/10-$400 for a couple hours and won 2.25 buy-ins before heading to the high stakes area for some Chinese Poker. I played $25 a point with some regulars, including Tom Schneider. I lost. What can ya do?

Today is the $250k Gaurentee NL tourney, starts at 1pm. I had breakfast with some friends who are out here visiting and now I am going to get some more rest before heading back for the tourney. gl me!

I suck at blogging…

I tend to do this with just about every blog I have… I forget about them and don’t keep them updated. I blame it all on Facebook. I use Facebook multiple times a day. If we are already friends on Facebook than you already knew that, if not, find me on there and add me as a friend.

As for poker… I will be going out to Los Angeles for the World Poker Tour (WPT) LA Poker Classic to play some of the smaller buyin prelims and hopefully satellite into the main event. I will be there from Feb 3 – Feb 10. I will come home for a few days and then head to Vegas for the new Pokerstars North American Poker Tour (NAPT) which is actually part of the Venetian’s Deep Stack Extravaganza. The main event will be filmed for ESPN and the prelims are standard DSE events. I will be there from Feb 15 – Feb 21, unless I am in the main event, in which case I will bump my flight.

In other news… I am currently working on getting my private pilots license. It is amazing! I never thought I would love flying as much as I do. It really makes you feel on top of the world. I really hope to have it completed before the WSOP this summer.

Home Alone, Bad Beat, Resolutions

I went to NY to visit my family for the holidays. I was there for about 12 days. I flew out the Monday before Christmas and flew back yesterday. I was surprised to find out that my folks had already made plans to travel for Christmas, so I found myself Home Alone in my parents house on Christmas morning. No big deal, I spent the days with my little sister, she cooked dinner both Christmas eve and Christmas night. She is awesome and so is her boyfriend.

The day after Christmas I went to Turning Stone Casino, which I had planned before I even got to NY. I arrived at the casino around 6pm, checked into my room, and hit the cash games right away. The biggest game they run is a 2-5NL and they usually only have one table going. So, I had to wait for a seat, which I did while playing in a fresh 1-2NL game. Less than 40 mins into the new game and 2 players hit the Bad Beat Jackpot for $87,000!!! Royal flush over straight flush. I only think the dealer, myself, and 1 other player even knew what happened. It was awesome! Usual payout of 50% to the loser, 25% to the winner, and 25% split amongst the rest of the table. I made $3107 for just sitting in the game waiting for my seat at the big game. After getting paid my seat opened on the other game and I ran even by the end of the night. I only planned on staying through the weekend because the games dry up during the weekdays. I woke the next morning, ate breakfast, played Bingo for a couple hours until the 2-5NL game started back up, and was able to profit 2 max buyins before calling it a day and heading home before 7pm. I’d say it was a good run at Turning Stone this trip.

New Years Eve was spent with all my friends from back home. Nothing to extravagant, especially with my flight home the next day. However, I did make a few New Years resolutions, which are…

Stay healthy
Play much more poker (professionally?)
Fly a plane
