Day 14 at WSOP

I had planned on leaving today, but I spoke with the women that owns this place and she gave me an incredible deal for the weekend, so I’ll be home on Monday. Because of the late night, I didn’t wake up until 2pm. I went down to the pool for a little and then went to the store for some drinks/snacks. I ate some dinner and got a call from my friend that he was down in the MGM poker room. I met him down there around 8pm. I played for a little while, and then he had to pick his roommate up from the Rio after work around 9pm. I continued playing poker and ended up lossing a significant hand that I should have went broke on – my middle set vs his top set. I just knew it the way the betting went down on the flop, that I turned my hand face up and said "I think I need to fold". Luckly, the guy was cool and turned his hand up and let me surrender with only my 3 bets, roughly $300. After that hand, I couldn’t get any momentum going and lost the other $100 I started with and called it a night. My friends were just having a good time and blowing money on blackjack. I like to play blackjack as a means of wasting time and hanging out, but I never really win. So, I just hung around and threw a few bucks into slots every once in a while. Of course, another late night and got to bed around 6am again.

Day 13 at WSOP

Today started off terrible. I woke up and got to the Rio just in time for the start of Event #24, $1500 NLHE. I had the worst cards ever. Every time I got into a pot, or tried to get into a pot, a raising war would ensue and I’d have to duck for cover. At first I was getting annoyed, then I realized that everytime I got out of the way, it was the right move. It was one of those days where no matter what, the hand I got dealt just wasn’t going to win, either by the cards or making plays. I lost quick, before the 2nd break, so like within 3 hours or so.

I came back and just hung out for a while. Then later in the evening I hooked up with a friend that I went to college with that has been living out here for the last 6+ years. I stayed with him when I got stuck out here after Summer ‘03. We ended up meeting my other friends at MGM and partied all night. I did end up making close to $1000, which was a relief from the loss earlier today. Worst part/best part, I didn’t get home until 6am – lol

Day 12 at WSOP

Again, I had to wake up early for work. I took care of what I needed to do and then went down to the pool for an hour. When I got back up to the room, I had some lunch and then ended up taking a nap until 4pm. By 6pm I was at the Rio grinding out the $175 SnGs. I played a total of 4. I pretty much went 3 for 4. The first one I ended up in 3rd place and got my money back. The second one I made it heads up. Again, these $175 SnGs pay a total of $1620. We got heads up and decided that we both get $500 each and we play it out for the $620 difference. I won!! I took $1000. The third one I played, we made a deal to give 3rd the $120 cash and we would do the same thing, $500 each and play for the odd $500. He had me 2-1, and he ultimately won. I got the $500. The forth sucked. I pushed AcQc all-in to get called by AA. Ouch. So, I pretty much went 3 for 4. Not bad.

I think I figured it out how I’m winning and its all because of Josh Auten. The last 4 days I have won except for yesterday. Yesterday was the only day out of the four that I hadn’t talked to Josh and had him rub his good luck budda dolls. So, guess what I’m going to do first thing tomorrow… call Josh and have him rub me some luck!! lol

I’m thinking about playing Event #24, $1500 NLHE, tomorrow at noon. Hardest part is being up in time. So, if I am, I just might be playing for a bracelet. haha

Damn… the bankroll took another hit tonight. I had it back up, but now its back down. I did the same thing this  morning as yesterday, woke up, did some work, then got some sun by the pool. Had some dinner and then went to the Rio. I played a $175 SnG and lost. Then I played a $340 nightly tourney, and lost. I went back to the SnG and played a $125. Luckily, I was able to convince them to give 3rd there buyin back, which is where I finished, 3rd. Then, for what ever reason, I decided to play some cash games. I sat at a 2/5NL game with $400. Within the first hour, this hand goes down. I am in the big blind with 92os. Its 3 way action. The flop comes up 929. Woohoo!! I check it, second guy checks, third guy bets $10. I figure if I just call, maybe I get second guy to stay in pot, which he does. Turn is 2. Damn. Now I know if another 9 is out there, we chop, but I’m praying third has the 2 for the worse full house. I check, second checks, third bets $50. I raise all-in, which is another ~$200. Second folds, and third insta calls with 98. Its a chop as of the turn, of course. However, you probably already know what the river brought, an 8. A fucking 8. Its the only card he wins with and it hits. FUCK!! So, grand total loss for the night is $900. Damn!!

Day 10 at WSOP

If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook, you know I spent the morning/afternoon by the pool, which I plan on doing tomorrow as well. After I got back from the pool, I had some lunch and took a nap. Woke up and made it to the Rio around 6pm. I was able to get 3 SnGs in by 11pm and then went for some dinner. The first I played was a $275 and I ended up running my KK into AA. What can ya do? The second and third were both $175, which pay $1620. The first $175 I ended up third, but I was able to convince the others while were 3 handed that we make sure 3rd gets there buy-in back. They went for it. haha. I wasn’t even close to chip leader, actually I think I was short stack. However, I did split the second $175 SnG for $810 each. When we got heads-up we had exactly the same amount of chips, exactly. I felt pretty confident I could beat this player, but why chance it. 50/50 was fine with me. So, total won minus buyins was $360 for the day. Meh, math is idiodic. lol

Day 9 at WSOP

Finally!!

I woke up and did some work on the laptop, then ended up falling back asleep. I woke to my friend inviting me over for dinner. He is sharing an apartment about 15 min from the strip with 3 other dealers from CO, whom I know from playing in Blackhawk. They are cool. Two of them were going out to see "The Hangover", for the second time!! They said it was hilarious. I stayed and ate, hanging out talking poker for a couple hours with his one roomate that has been dealing/playing 17 yrs, she knows her stuff. I planned on playing today, so  I went to the Rio to play some STS. I played great! I got 2 games in by 3am and won both! The first was a $125 which pays $1120. I got heads up and the kid had me covered by almost 2-1, so I offered to split it 50/50 $500 each and play it out for the $120. He agreed, haha!! Of course, I won the match and the extra $120, which I kinda thought I might, but I stilled made the chop go my way. Total win, $600. The second was a $175 which pays $1620. Both of these tourneys had 1k starting stacks btw. I got down to 3 handed and I had half the chips in play and said I’d chop 3 way if I got $1000 and they each got $500, haha. They wouldn’t take it. lol. I started playing hard and big and caught one of them with QQ>KQ. He stormed off surely pissed he didn’t take my chop earlier. Then, I turned to the kid still left and I told him I’d give him his buy-in $175 back. He took it. It took me a little angling, but he agreed. Total win, $1400. Awesome run. I would have continued playing, but that was the last STS until next day. I walked around and the final tables of a few tourneys were just finishing up. John Juanda is looking good in a stud tourney. I was going to play in the Venetian DSE $330 tomorrow at noon,  but I think I’m going to grind out a few STSs instead. I think I found my niche. Lets see how tomorrow goes.

Day 8 at WSOP

Since I got in so late the night before, I ended up sleeping until 2pm. I milled about until I remebered the Belmont Stakes was running around 3:30pm. I got dressed and ran down to make some $6 tri bets for Bill, Josh and myself. None of us hit it. We all had the right horses, especially Bill, but the wrong combos. Meh. I lost $18 – lol

I met my friend at MGM around 10pm to go play the Ceasars nightly $120 tourney. We made it over just in time for late reg. I started off strong, but my friend ran his first hand(!!) of flopped 2 pair into a bigger flopped 2 pair as well as a flopped set – lol. Fastest tourney entry I have ever witnessed – lol.
Long story short, there were 95 entrants and I busted 21. Cash was only final 9. Ouch. I do so well, and then it comes down to flips that just don’t go my way. I need to adjust to the lull that causes me to have to flip. The lulls in mid to late levels are my leak. I’m getting punished for not gambling or making moves. I make some, but obviously not enough.

After busting from the tourney I hung in a 1/3NL game with my friend until his roommate got off work from the Rio and made it over to Ceasars. They had to work the next day and they left at 3am, as did I. I came back to my room and got to bed. Planning on playing at the Rio tomorrow, prolly 2 or 3 STS – idk.
